In addition to the personal introductions, the programme included visits to the BRK District Association of Bayreuth’s operational facilities. The delegation toured the Bayreuth social care centre for outpatient nursing services and visited the emergency medical services.

Daniel Knorr, Deputy Head of the Outpatient Care Department, introduced the structures, responsibilities and daily workflows of outpatient care. The visitors gained insights into how nursing services are organised in Germany and the day-to-day demands placed on nursing professionals and care providers.

The visit offered an opportunity to learn about different approaches to healthcare and nursing, exchange experiences, and discuss both similarities and differences.

The Care and Career project aims to recruit qualified nursing professionals from abroad and support them as they integrate into professional and everyday life in Germany. The meeting with Nantong University highlighted the importance of international partnerships in further developing nursing education and strengthening cooperation in the healthcare sector.

“International encounters like this foster mutual understanding and open up new perspectives. Particularly in nursing, we can learn from one another and work together to develop new approaches.” This was the key takeaway from the day.

For the BRK District Association of Bayreuth, the visit by the Chinese delegation was a valuable opportunity to strengthen existing relationships and explore new avenues for international cooperation. The planned return visit to Nantong next year will continue this exchange and help lay the foundations for concrete joint initiatives.
