The Bayreuth District Association of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) is actively committed to integrating foreign nursing professionals. Four employees from BRK care services in Bayreuth have recently begun training as integration coaches as part of the BIAP project – Workplace Integration of Foreign Nursing Staff – in Weiherhammer. This initiative is part of a broader set of measures aimed at making it easier for international employees to start working at BRK and to support their successful integration into our teams.
Diversity as a strength
As part of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the BRK Bayreuth District Association is open to people of all backgrounds, religions, and political beliefs. The association is proud that employees from more than 33 countries have found their way to BRK in Bayreuth. This diversity enriches everyday work, strengthens mutual understanding, and fosters successful collaboration within teams.
Training to become an integration coach
Through the BIAP project, the LUCE Foundation (Lars and Christian Engel), in cooperation with Hof University of Applied Sciences, offers targeted training programs for nursing staff to become integration coaches. The aim is to strengthen intercultural competencies, improve language skills, and enhance collaboration between international and local staff.
The training content includes, among other topics, culturally sensitive practices in nursing care, country-specific differences in education and training, as well as dealing with discrimination and racism in everyday care work. The combination of theoretical online modules and practical exercises in so-called “skills labs” enables participants to apply what they have learned directly in practice.
By training its employees as integration coaches, the BRK Bayreuth District Association reaffirms its commitment to open, diverse, and future-oriented nursing care – an investment in the quality of care and in strong teamwork.
