This week, the BRK Schools of Nursing of the BRK Bayreuth district association bid farewell to this year’s graduates with a ceremonial presentation of certificates. A total of 32 trainees – 21 nursing assistants and 11 nursing specialists – successfully completed their training in 2025.
Families, teachers and practical instructors as the key to successful training
The ceremony was opened by Markus Ruckdeschel, District Managing Director of the BRK Bayreuth district association, who expressed his special thanks to all of the trainees’ companions: the families, teachers and practical instructors who have contributed significantly to their success with advice, patience and support. “It doesn’t work without a supportive social environment,” emphasized Ruckdeschel.
Diversity as a strength in the nursing profession
He was delighted with every single graduate who is now strengthening the care sector as a specialist. “We need every helping hand in nursing,” emphasized Ruckdeschel with a view to the nationwide shortage of skilled workers, underlining the central importance of every single graduate for the care of the population. He was particularly proud of the high proportion of people with an international background among the graduates. “Around 35 percent of employees in the BRK Bayreuth district association in the care sector have international roots. Nursing is therefore also the vanguard of society when it comes to integrating immigrants into work processes and social structures.”
Ruckdeschel went on to say that as a school provider and employer, the district association faces the major task of integrating trained specialists from abroad into the existing structures and offering them long-term prospects.
Principal praises the trainees’ perseverance and commitment
Sandra Zahn, Headmistress of the BRK Schools of Nursing, also warmly congratulated the graduates. In her speech, she acknowledged the efforts of the past years and compared the training to a challenging path: “Nursing training is no walk in the park. It is more like a marathon – sometimes a mountain hike, sometimes even a dive. All the more reason for you to be proud of yourself today.”
Zahn emphasized that graduation marks the start of a new phase in her life. “Nursing is not a profession where you just go with the flow. Thinking, feeling and shaping – that’s what’s required every day.” She also thanked the relatives and practical instructors as well as Christine Seeber, who, as coordinator for the practical assignments, had played a central role in organizing the practical training phases.
Awards for special achievements
A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the Barbara Stamm Memorial Medal to Miriam Beck, the best graduate of the year. The award has been presented as a challenge cup by the BRK Bayreuth district association since 2019 and honors the best graduate each year for outstanding academic and practical achievements.
